Before you begin the installation process, please read and follow these safety precautions to ensure a safe and effective installation:

Pre-Installation Preparation:

Proper preparation is key to a smooth installation process. Follow these steps to prepare for the installation of your Zendu Tracker:

  1. Unpack the Device:

  1. Carefully unpack the asset tracker and verify that all components are present.
  2. Inspect the device for any physical damage.

  1. Gather Tools and Materials:

  1. Ensure you have all the necessary tools and materials, including mounting brackets, screws, a screwdriver, and any other items specified in the manual.

  1. Choose Installation Location:

Select a location with a clear view of the sky for optimal GPS signal. Avoid metallic enclosures or locations prone to physical damage. Do not install the tracker on trailer rear doors, flatbeds, or chassis. Recommended positions:

  1. Trailer roof (ensure clearance from bridges and snow equipment)
  2. Trailer front, a few inches below the roof line

  1. Charge the Device:

  1. If the asset tracker has a rechargeable battery, charge fully using the connection cable before installation.
  2. Follow the charging instructions provided in the manual.

  1. Test the Device:

  1. Power on the asset tracker and perform a preliminary test to ensure it is functioning correctly.
  2. Verify that the device is acquiring a GPS signal and communicating with the tracking platform.
  3. Lights will automatically turn off after 70 seconds if not connected via USB.

Installation Guide:




SIM Card Setup

  1. Unscrew the 4 side panel screws.
  2. Open the rear cover with a screwdriver.
  3. Insert the SIM card with a gentle push.
    1. Ensure SIM card has active data service, is unlocked, and has sufficient balance.
  4. Turn the power switch from OFF to ON.
  5. Close the rear cover and secure tightly with screws.

Note:
The device is shipped with the power switch in the OFF position. You must turn it ON during setup.


Notes

Fix Screws:


It is VERY IMPORTANT to fix the 4 rear cover screws to prevent water from leaking inside and cause damage to device.



Wiring and Power Connection

Using the Extension Cable

  1. Untighten the tracker’s cap.

  2. Plug in the extension cable until firmly connected.

  3. Tighten the cap until it cannot turn anymore.

  4. Use the pinout chart printed on the device to connect wires to your power source.

Important:
Ensure the cap is sealed tightly to protect the pins and prevent moisture or dirt from entering.

Device Mounting Instructions

Mounting Methods
You may install the device using:
  1. Four self-tapping screws (provided) to secure it to a flat surface
  2. Zip ties, industrial Velcro, or 3M double-backed tape for temporary or semi-permanent installations

Do not overtighten self-tapping screws, as this can crack the base.

Orientation

Mount with the label "This Side Towards Sky" facing upward.
The device can be installed vertically or sideways, as long as the GPS antenna points skyward.

Secure to the Vehicle

Use mounting holes on the tracker body for a stable and secure fit.

Using the Connection Cable

The tracker can be connected to a computer via the provided connection cable for:
  1. Battery charging, or
  2. Overriding configuration, if required

Quick Troubleshooting


Unable to Connect to Platform
  1. Check APN and IP settings:
  2. Ensure SIM supports the network and data services are active
  3. Verify that the SIM's IP whitelist includes the server IP
  4. Confirm SIM has sufficient balance and signal
Tracker Shows Offline
  1. Check external power voltage and physical connections
  2. Confirm the vehicle is not in a network blind spot
  3. Check SIM data limits (especially near the end of the billing cycle)
Unable to Locate
  1. Ensure “TOP SIDE” is facing the sky without metal obstruction
  2. Confirm the device is not in a satellite-blocked area (e.g., underground, urban canyon)
  3. Note that GNSS signal drift may occur in poor reception areas but will resolve in open spaces
No Command Reply
  1. Check for correct command formatting
  2. Ensure the SIM is inserted properly
  3. Confirm the vehicle is not in a network blind area
