Zentrack OBD Troubleshooting Guide

The Zentrack OBD is a plug-and-play tracker designed to connect to a vehicle's OBDII port. It provides real-time location tracking, ignition detection, and OBDII data reading. This guide covers installation, configuration, common troubleshooting steps, and frequently used commands.
Installation Guide
SIM Card Pre-Installation Checklist
- Ensure SIM card has an active data service.
- Unlock the SIM card if it has a PIN lock.
- Verify there is sufficient balance or data in the SIM card.
SIM Card Installation
- Align the SIM card with the icon direction.
- Insert the SIM card gently until it clicks into place.
- Release the card to ensure a secure fit.
Tracker Installation
- Verify that the vehicle has an OBDII connector.
- Plug the tracker into the vehicle’s OBDII port.
- The tracker will automatically power on.
- The LED indicators will flash, confirming a successful installation.
- After 8 minutes, indicator lights will turn off automatically.

Tracker Operation
Power On and Off
- Power On: Insert a SIM card and connect the tracker to an external power source.
- Power Off: Remove the SIM card first, then disconnect the tracker from external power. The device will shut down within 5-10 seconds.
Location Search
- SMS Query: Send a location inquiry SMS command (refer to the command list below). The tracker will respond with location details.
- Platform Query: Connect the tracker to a tracking platform for real-time location monitoring. (Additional service charges may apply; contact your provider for details.)
Troubleshooting
- Verify APN and IP settings.
- Ensure the SIM card supports the required network and has data service enabled.
- If using an M2M SIM card, ensure the server IP is added to the whitelist.
- Check the SIM card balance and data allowance.
Tracker Shows Offline
- Ensure the tracker is receiving power by checking the external voltage.
- Check if the vehicle is in a network blind spot.
- Confirm the SIM card balance and data availability.
- If the issue occurs at the end of the month, check whether the carrier has suspended the data service.
Unable to Locate
- Ensure the device is not obstructed by metallic objects.
- Verify that the vehicle is not in an area with no satellite coverage.
Location Drift
- If the vehicle is in an area with weak GNSS signals (e.g., urban areas with tall buildings), location drift may occur. The issue should resolve once the vehicle moves to an open area.
No Command Reply
- Verify that the command format is correct.
- Ensure the vehicle is not in a network blind spot.
- Confirm that the SIM card is correctly inserted.
Frequently Used SMS Commands
Commands are not case-sensitive and can be sent via mobile phone or web. Commands must be separated by commas and end with #. If successful, the tracker will return OK; otherwise, no response will be received.
