Create Custom Fields for Assets

Overview

This procedure demonstrates how to create a custom field.  Custom fields are assigned to asset categories. They are displayed in the assets custom field tab for any asset within the predefined asset category. 

Steps:

1. Click  Settings, CMMS Settings, Custom Fields,  and  New


  2. Add a   Name, Label,  select a  Type,  and asset category. The   Name   must start with a letter, and continue with letters, digits, or underscores.  Select  Also apply this field to all child categories  if the field should also apply to any sub-asset categories of the asset category   selected. Click  OK  to complete.

     

  3. The new custom field is now visible under the   C ustom Fields   tab


  4. The custom field can now be populated for any assets assigned to the same asset category, and in this case, any selected sub-categories as the custom field
